Social Responsibility in Education
As a leading partner in education, Mentoring Minds provides affordable effective learning tools designed to provide students with the skills and knowledge they need to succeed with a focus on development of critical thinking skills. However, the company provides more than educational tools for the classroom as they also want to prepare students for life outside of school. For that reason, Mentoring Minds has a strong connection with the social responsibility that comes with being a leader in the development and distribution of learning tools.
More than 21 million students receive free or reduced-price breakfasts and lunches through programs funded by the federal government. Unfortunately for many of these children, meals at school are the only ones they eat in a day as their family may not be able to afford food at home. The Feeding America BackPack program is designed to address this problem by providing qualifying students with backpacks of food to take home on weekends. The program works with local food banks who assemble the backpacks and distribute them to more than 450,000 students throughout the country.
National Distinguished Principal Award
Mentoring Minds believes that administrators who go above and beyond the call of duty to help the students in their school deserve recognition, which is why they are strong supporters of the National Distinguished Principal Award program. The program honors outstanding elementary and middle-level administrators who work to provide a strong educational foundation in their students in an effort to promote lifelong learning and success. The program began in 1984 as a way to recognize school administrators who set high standards in their school in the areas of:
– Student Achievement
– Promoting a climate that encourages students, families and staff
Principals in public and private schools as well as those in schools under the direction of the United States Department of Defense Office of Educational Activity or the United States Department of State Office of Overseas Schools are eligible for the award. Principals must be members of the National Association of Elementary School Principals in order to be nominated for the award.
MindSHARE is a unique employee program that encourages staff to volunteer or provide charitable support for community non-profit agencies. The organizations are chosen by the employees, many of whom are already active volunteers in our community. Mentoring Minds is proud to be a partner in the MindSHARE movement, encouraging our staff to spend as much time as possible doing charitable works throughout our community.
As an educational company, Mentoring Minds knows that students of today face growing outside pressures unlike those faced by other generations. For this reason, the company strives to not only offer research-based educational materials that focus on such important learning objectives such as classroom management, instructional strategy, differentiated learning, as well as the need to promote critical thinking skills among students, but to provide community guidance as well.
