It is never too early or too late to further your education! In fact, more people than ever before are returning to school to learn new skills or change careers. Many of these people have been in the workforce for decades and have either lost their jobs due to the recession, or have decided that they want to try something new on for size.
Here are some fun facts about continuing your education:
There are no more excuses! There are so many educational programs out there now that to list them all would make your head spin! Programs for non-traditional students are on the rise and are customized to fit the schedules of almost anyone. Furthermore, many programs are offered online, which means you can take classes from anywhere in the world.
Courses are more detailed now than ever before. It used to be that a college education was the admission ticket to a good job. Not anymore. In fact, employers began telling educational institutes that they wanted students to graduate with “ready skills” to use in the workplace. Because of this, specialized programs and certificates arose. Now, when you graduate from most programs you will have the skills employers need on day #1. For instance, if you graduate with a medical billing certificate, you will be able to start working in a healthcare setting the day you graduate!
The older you are, the more you bring to the table. One of the greatest concerns of students considering going back to school is their age. What most don’t realize is that their age is their greatest asset. After all, you’ve been out in the working world for a few years, and now you can use that experience to help you in the classroom. All those years of “real world” experience can now be applied to your education in healthcare, legal services, technology, or business.
The sky is the limit! Whether you want a medical billing certificate, an Associates of Marketing, or a Bachelor degree in Criminal Justice, there is no limit to what you can learn and the degrees you can earn. The choice has always been yours, and it’s time you seize the moment and pursue your goals!
College is fun! Ok, finding a parking space when you are running late for class isn’t much fun, but the experience you will have the moment you step into the classroom is. Just think of all the friends you will make, the knowledge you will share, and the education you will earn. Without a doubt, it will be one of the most rewarding and enjoyable experiences of your life!
